Job summary

CSL Limited in Melbourne seeks an Associate Director, R&D Lab Platform – Bioinformatics to lead the development and evolution of digital capabilities used across our research and product development laboratories. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences or a related discipline.
• PhD or equivalent advanced professional expertise is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the R&D Lab Platform strategy and roadmap, with a particular focus on bioinformatics, computational capabilities and scientific data.
• Partner with scientists, bioinformaticians, laboratory teams and technology specialists to understand research workflows and translate scientific needs into practical, scalable solutions.
• Support the development, integration, adoption and lifecycle management of platforms used to manage, analyse and interpret complex research data.
• Help enable connectivity between laboratory instruments, scientific platforms, trusted data repositories and bioinformatics or analytical environments.
• Support the automation and standardisation of scientific data flows, improving data accessibility, quality, traceability and reuse.
• Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce digital friction and improve the researcher experience.
• Collaborate across Technology Enabled Science, R&D, technical operations and external partners to align platform capabilities with broader scientific and digital priorities.
• Support platform governance, including appropriate data standards, access controls, security, risk and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate relevant external technology vendors, including service delivery, platform performance, licensing and continuous improvement.
• Monitor platform adoption and performance, supporting engagement, training and continuous improvement activities.

Education
