The University of Melbourne is seeking a Bioinformatician to lead training and genomic surveillance initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. You will develop pipelines, collaborate with international partners, and translate genomics into public health action while contributing to high-impact research and policy development.

Based at the Doherty Institute, you will mentor students and postdoctoral researchers, travel as needed, and participate in collaborative projects with global health

Qualifications

• PhD or Masters in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field.
• At least five years' bioinformatics/genomics experience.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting pipelines and data storage environments.
• Proficient data visualization and ability to present findings.
• Experience delivering bioinformatics or genomics training to diverse audiences.

Responsabilités

• Design and deliver bioinformatics training and capacity-building programs for regional public health genomics teams.
• Develop and optimise analysis pipelines and platforms supporting pathogen genomics in public health laboratories.
• Contribute to translational research, funding applications and publications in microbial genomics and genomic epidemiology.
• Build and nurture communities of practice, mentoring students, postdoctoral researchers and regional partners.
