Qualifications

• 3-5 years in a bar with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity
• Exceptional knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and other beverages
• Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate, train and develop junior staff
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• RSA certification and willingness to maintain certification

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Bar Tender to join our team at Baby Dragon Bar in Newtown on a full-time basis. This is a key leadership position within our bar operations, responsible for delivering exceptional service whilst mentoring junior staff and maintaining the highest standards of beverage preparation and customer engagement. As Senior Bar Tender, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences for our guests whilst upholding our commitment to quality and excellence.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and serve a wide variety of beverages, including cocktails, spirits, beers, wines and non-alcoholic drinks, to the highest standards

Provide expert knowledge and recommendations to customers regarding drink selections and pairings

Mentor, train and supervise junior bar staff, ensuring consistency in service quality and adherence to company standards

Manage bar operations including stock rotation, inventory management and ordering of beverages and supplies

Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation throughout the bar area

Handle cash and card transactions accurately, ensuring proper reconciliation at the end of shifts

Uphold responsible service of alcohol practices and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and licensing requirements

Engage with customers in a professional and friendly manner, building rapport and encouraging repeat business

Collaborate with other team members and management to create a positive working environment

Monitor and report on bar performance, including sales trends and customer feedback

What we're looking for

Minimum 3-5 years' experience working in a bar environment, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity

Exceptional knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and other beverages, including the ability to create both classic and innovative drinks

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train and develop junior staff members

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to engage with diverse clientele

Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and experience with bar management software

Certified in Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and willing to maintain this certification

Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods whilst maintaining service quality

Strong organisational and stock management skills with attention to detail

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required

A passion for hospitality and a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding customer service
