Job summary

Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd in Sydney seeks a senior hands-on technical leader to own the Application Modernisation workstream for a large-scale legacy program. You will decompose a 30-year Oracle monolith into modern, domain APIs and define service boundaries, sequencing teardown across domains while balancing delivery risk.

You will design production, web-facing APIs with versioning, collaborate with an Agentic AI workstream lead, advise senior stakeholders, and promote architecture

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering large-scale enterprise IT programs.
• Solid SDLC and Agile knowledge for iterative delivery.
• Experience implementing AWS services in distributed environments.
• Proven ability to manage executive customer relationships.
• Experience with IT compliance and risk management (security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Own the Application Modernisation workstream end-to-end: domain decomposition, API design, and delivery governance.
• Lead the deconstruction of a 30-year Oracle monolith into domain APIs.
• Define and sequence domain teardown across multiple units, minimize disruption.
• Design production, web-facing APIs with versioning to avoid breaking consumers.
• Balance future domain contracts with pragmatic first-release designs.
• Manage end-to-end modernization from discovery to cutover planning.
