Job summary

Amazon Web Services is seeking a senior hands-on technical leader to own the Application Modernisation workstream for a large legacy program in Australia. You will decompose a decades-old Oracle monolith into modern domain APIs and design production-grade APIs at enterprise scale, balancing delivery risk with ambitious architecture.

You will mentor teams, define governance, and collaborate with AI and business stakeholders to steer architecture decisions across multiple units.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field.
Experience managing and delivering large-scale enterprise IT projects.
Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA, etc.).
Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies.

Responsibilities

Own the Application Modernisation workstream end‑to‑end: domain decomposition strategy, API design, solution architecture and delivery governance.
Lead the decomposition of a ~30-year Oracle monolith into business-modelled domain APIs.
Define and sequence the domain teardown across multiple business units, managing dependencies and minimising disruption.
Design production, web-facing APIs with versioning strategies to avoid breaking existing consumers during migration.
Establish end-to-end modernisation process from discovery to cutover planning and integration with AI/discovery workstreams.
Advise senior customer stakeholders on architecture direction, sequencing trade-offs and change absorption per phase.
Mentor team capability in legacy modernisation patterns, domain-driven design, and API-first delivery.
