Job summary

Evoenergy is seeking a highly experienced Principal Automation Standards Engineer to provide technical leadership, governance and assurance for automation, SCADA and control systems across the electricity network in Canberra. The role drives standards, consistency and the long-term evolution of network automation capabilities.

You will act as a key technical authority, ensuring safety, standardisation, interoperability and alignment with the ACT's future network strategy while collaborating

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
• Current ACT Professional Engineering Registration or eligibility is required.
• Extensive experience in electricity network automation, SCADA and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of automation engineering standards, SCADA integration and IEC 61850.
• Experience in engineering standards, technical assurance or governance functions.
• Experience reviewing automation systems against approved standards.
• Strong understanding of risk management, change control and assurance practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continual improvement of automation standards and reference architectures.
• Act as Evoenergy's technical authority for automation standards and governance.
• Establish enterprise reference architectures, control philosophies and alarm management principles.
• Develop governance for configuration management, reviews and change control.
• Provide independent technical review and assurance of automation systems.
• Deliver strategic advice on emerging automation and cybersecurity obligations.
