Job summary

Evoenergy in Canberra seeks a SCADA Technician to support the development, operation and testing of our SCADA systems, including RTU configuration, design review and field commissioning.

You will monitor SCADA assets, investigate faults, and ensure data integrity while upholding safety and regulatory obligations. You will coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver projects on time and to quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering qualifications with SCADA or communications experience.
  • Sound knowledge of SCADA principles and operating practices.
  • Experience with RTU configurations, testing and field commissioning.
  • Ability to obtain AusCheck clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test and commission SCADA RTU configurations for projects.

  • Investigate and resolve faults across SCADA assets.
  • Deliver maintenance to sustain SCADA availability and data integrity.

Job description

As one of our SCADA Technicians, you will assist with the ongoing development, operation and support of Evoenergy’s supervisory control and data acquisition systems. You will review designs, develop RTU configurations, perform testing and commissioning, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver new SCADA projects to agreed milestones, budgets and quality standards.

You will also monitor and maintain SCADA assets, investigate and repair faults, and protect the availability and integrity of the operational data that supports essential business functions. Safety is central to the role: you will make informed decisions, report hazards and incidents, comply with legislative and regulatory obligations, and contribute to continuous improvement across Evoenergy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, test and commission SCADA RTU configurations for customer and network-initiated projects.
  • Review SCADA designs and coordinate project delivery with employees, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Investigate and resolve faults and defects across SCADA assets and supporting communications systems.
  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance outcomes that sustain SCADA availability and data integrity.
  • Develop, audit and apply engineering, data validation, integrity and configuration management standards.
  • Contribute to SCADA-related business processes, quality systems, technical meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the on-call roster as required.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Relevant technical qualifications and experience in electrical engineering, SCADA and/or associated communications technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of SCADA principles, interfaces and operating practices within electricity transmission or distribution environments.
  • Knowledge of distribution networks, substations, electrical plant and equipment, protection schemes, databases and operating platforms.
  • Experience in SCADA design, implementation, testing and field commissioning processes.Experience delivering projects to time, budget and required quality standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in SCADA or IT security, together with a safety-focused and collaborative approach.
  • Current electrical license (Desirable)
  • Ability to obtain an AusCheck clearance.
