Job summary

AECOM in Sydney seeks an Associate Director – Structural Engineer to join our Building Structures team. This role offers a path into an Associate Director position within the National Building Engineering group, contributing to landmark projects across ANZ while strengthening the Sydney team.

The candidate will lead complex structural projects, oversee design quality, and leverage networks to grow client relationships and business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering with 15+ years of consultancy experience delivering structural projects.
• Chartership with Engineers Australia (CPEng) or other registrations welcomed.
• Strong technical expertise in structural design with Australian codes/standards.
• Excellent written/verbal communication; capable of building client relationships.
• Proven competency in project and commercial management; leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of complex structural and multidisciplinary building projects across sectors in Australia.
• Oversee structural design and end-to-end project delivery with technical quality and coordination.
• Build client relationships; develop connections and support business development; maintain a strong pipeline.
• Provide technical leadership on major projects; solve design issues and deliver practical outcomes for clients.
• Lead and mentor the structural team; grow AECOM’s Sydney presence within the National Building Engineering group.
