Medibank is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in its Digital Delivery team in Australia. You’ll be hands-on building high-quality APIs that power Medibank’s digital experiences and help set engineering standards across squads.

Around 70% of your time focuses on delivering user stories within an agile squad, mentoring engineers, and uplifting code quality. You’ll also collaborate with stakeholders to evolve APIs and support frontend cross-skilling.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of modern and legacy integration approaches including APIs, SOA, and messaging.
• Experience with REST vs SOAP, pub/sub vs request-reply, and ESBs.
• Hands-on with Spring Boot, Apache Camel, and building APIs and microservices.
• Experience in multiple languages including Java; full-stack capability with React/Angular.
• GraphQL, Node.js, and scripting across Linux and related OSs.
• Knowledge of AWS and message streaming best practices.
• Familiar with build/automation tools: Ant, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Bamboo.
• Experience in Agile environments and Jira-based delivery.

• Contribute to planning, solution design, coding, testing, CI/CD pipelines, deployment.

• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and support a positive team culture.
• Assist with system and solution architecture and define technical requirements.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and business teams across projects.
