Job summary

The Recruitment Hive Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior API Integration Developer for a Australian Government department. The role is Canberra and Sydney onsite, on a 12 + 12 month contract with ASAP start.

You will design, build, test and support API-led and event-driven integrations, collaborating across departments and external services. Responsibilities include implementing cloud-native integration solutions, applying modern engineering and DevSecOps practices, and enabling secure, scalable service

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience designing, developing and supporting API-led and event-driven integration solutions using microservices.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML, OpenAPI/Swagger, API gateways and service integration patterns.
• Cloud-native integration solutions using messaging and event-driven technologies; familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and modern languages.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and support API-led and event-driven integration solutions for secure, scalable communication.
• Use cloud-native services, messaging technologies and event-driven patterns to enable business transformation and platform modernisation.
• Apply DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability and AI-enabled software delivery practices to secure and reliable services.
• Promote modern engineering practices including microservices, API-first design and reusable integration patterns.
