Job summary

Whizdom is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to deliver secure, scalable API services in a government-facing environment. You will design and implement Java REST APIs, align with HL7 FHIR standards, and work across authentication, data mapping and testing.

The role requires experience with containerised apps, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and strong iterative testing across the full software lifecycle. Brisbane or Canberra location; 12-month contract; Australian citizenship and Baseline clearance essential.

Responsibilities

Designing and developing secure RESTful APIs using Java
Building healthcare APIs aligned with HL7 FHIR
Supporting integration across complex clinical and administrative systems
Implementing API authentication and authorisation using OAuth 2.0
Developing automated and end-to-end API testing
Working with containerised applications, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps/GitOps practices
Supporting logging, monitoring, privacy and auditability requirements
Collaborating on integration, data mapping and transformation
Supporting production-ready solutions throughout the application lifecycle
