Job summary

Whizdom is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to deliver secure, scalable API services in a government-facing environment. You will design and implement Java REST APIs, align with HL7 FHIR standards, and work across authentication, data mapping and testing.

The role requires experience with containerised apps, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and strong iterative testing across the full software lifecycle. Brisbane or Canberra location; 12-month contract; Australian citizenship and Baseline clearance essential.

Senior Software Engineer – Java / APIs / FHIR

Location: Brisbane or Canberra

Contract: 12 months with possible extensions

Mandatory: Australian Citizenship and able to obtain and maintain a Baseline clearance.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Software Engineer to contribute to a complex Government environment delivering secure, scalable API services that integrate with a broad range of internal and external systems. You will work within a highly regulated technology environment supporting a sophisticated API Gateway and associated security, integration, platform, data, monitoring and DevSecOps capabilities. This role will suit an experienced consulting engineer who is comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle and has strong experience with Java, REST APIs and contemporary development practices.

Eligibility & Security Requirements

• Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a National Police Check.
