Job summary

Western Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant with expertise in Alcohol and Other Drugs to support the AOD Emergency Department at Sunshine Hospital. The role focuses on specialist assessment, care planning and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.

Part-time ongoing position (40 hours per fortnight) offers the opportunity to lead, educate staff, contribute to service improvement and ensure high-quality person-centred AOD care across the ED and hub settings.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Experience in a senior clinical role (CNS or above).
• Knowledge of withdrawal management and Victoria’s opioid replacement pharmacotherapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert AOD nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and clinical consultation within the Sunshine Hospital ED & AOD Hub.
• Provide leadership, specialist advice and clinical direction to multidisciplinary teams.
• Respond to referrals in a timely manner and support coordination of consumer care.
• Educate and mentor nursing and multidisciplinary staff to strengthen AOD knowledge.
• Lead and contribute to quality improvement, policy review and service redesign initiatives.
