Job summary

Western Health in Melbourne’s western region is seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) in the Alcohol and Other Drug Emergency Department team at Sunshine Hospital. This part-time (40 hours per fortnight) ongoing position focuses on specialist AOD assessment, intervention and clinical advice within the ED and AOD Hub.

You will lead and mentor staff, contribute to quality improvement and service redesign, and work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care

Qualifications

• Active registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience in senior clinical roles (CNS or above).
• Excellent clinical, communication, time-management and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of withdrawal management and Victoria's opioid replacement pharmacotherapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert AOD nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and clinical consultation within the ED and AOD Hub.
• Provide leadership and clinical direction to multidisciplinary teams to support safe, high-quality care.
• Respond to referrals, prioritise care needs and coordinate consumer care across acute and community services.
• Educate, mentor and support nursing and multidisciplinary staff on AOD knowledge and best practice.
• Lead and contribute to quality improvement, policy review, and service redesign initiatives.
