Job summary

Qantas has opened a brand-new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. The Senior Android Developer will lead architecture, development, and delivery of Android software, mentoring the team and ensuring high-quality, secure apps that meet business goals.

You will work across planning, development, deployment and monitoring, staying current with Android trends and applying Jetpack Compose, Kotlin, and CI/CD best practices.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a similar role.
• Extensive experience contributing to large Android projects and teams, with insight into associated challenges.
• Strong grasp of software patterns and techniques that ensure flexible, high-quality code.
• Proven technology experience across Kotlin, Android Studio, GitHub, Mobile Continuous Integration, Jetpack Compose.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on automation, testing, and code quality.
• Excellent communicator, able to translate technical needs across business and multidisciplinary teams.
• Deep understanding of Android design principles, API design, and testing frameworks.
• Confidence with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code.
• Experience with server-driven architectures will be well regarded.
• Ability to mentor junior developers and perform code reviews.
• Confident in ability to assist in assessing and recruiting new team members.
