Job summary

Xero is hiring a Senior Engineer - AI Builder in the Operational Tools & Workflows group. You will design and ship internal tools that automate routine operating rhythms, enabling product and technology leaders and frontline teams to focus on building innovative products.

You will apply AI and engineering techniques to build scalable software, connect data systems, and mentor colleagues across the operations community.

Qualifications

• Background in software engineering with Python/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools, coding agents, and low-code frameworks.
• Ability to decide between custom software, low-code workflows, or SaaS extensions.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver internal tools for status reporting, headcount management, and roadmapping.
• Apply AI-first engineering to automate complex workflows.
• Integrate platforms via APIs across Jira, Confluence, Workday and data warehouses.
• Prototype AI-enabled solutions to remove friction and scale operations.
