Chandler Macleod Group is recruiting on behalf of our client for an APS6 Senior Advisor – People & Performance to join the dynamic People Services team on a contract up to 12 months. You will partner with leaders to deliver practical HR solutions, including investigations, performance management and policy interpretation.

You will provide specialist guidance, manage sensitive cases and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within People Services, ensuring adherence to APS frameworks

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in HR advisory or employee relations.
  • Australian Citizenship is required.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check is required.
  • AHRI membership/certification and related qualifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist HR guidance on enterprise agreements, legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters including performance management, misconduct, grievances and workplace conflict.
  • Conduct workplace enquiries, reviews and investigations with reports and recommendations.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and deliver client-focused HR services.
  • Coach leaders on performance and behavioural matters and prepare briefs and reports.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HR systems and service delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of APS employment frameworks and contemporary HR practices.

Job description

Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced APS6 Senior Advisor – People & Performance to join a dynamic People Services team on a contract opportunity for up to 12 months.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys partnering with leaders to deliver practical, contemporary people solutions. The successful candidate will provide trusted advice on a broad range of workforce matters, including employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, conflict resolution and policy interpretation.

About the Role

As the APS6 Senior Advisor – People & Performance, you will work closely with managers and employees to provide specialist HR guidance and support across a range of people-related matters. You will play a key role in managing sensitive cases, enhancing leadership capability and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across People Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist HR advice and guidance, including interpretation and application of enterprise agreements, legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters, including performance management, misconduct, grievances, complaints and workplace conflict.
  • Conduct workplace enquiries, reviews and investigations, including the preparation of reports and recommendations.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and deliver high-quality, client-focused HR services.
  • Support leaders through coaching, training and guidance on performance and behavioural matters.
  • Prepare professional briefings, correspondence and reports, including responses to reviews of action.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of HR systems, processes and service delivery.
  • Maintain current knowledge of APS employment frameworks, industrial relations developments and contemporary HR practices.
About You

You are an experienced HR practitioner with strong employee relations expertise and demonstrated success managing complex and sensitive people matters. You bring excellent judgement, professionalism and the ability to balance competing priorities while delivering outcomes.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing investigation reports and formal correspondence.
  • Experience conducting workplace enquiries and fact-finding activities.
  • Ability to provide practical, evidence-based advice and recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • High levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conflict-resolution capabilities.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar HR advisory or employee relations role.
  • Australian Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Check.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Workplace Relations or a related discipline.
  • AHRI membership and/or certification.
  • Experience in coaching, mediation or dispute resolution.
  • Knowledge of APS employment legislation and frameworks.
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
