Job summary

pmo365 (EPM Partners) is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee our finance function across Australia and the UK. The role is a 2-day-per-week, hybrid position based in Sydney, reporting to the CEO and leadership team. You’ll manage monthly close, payroll, invoicing, and compliance across two entities.

The successful candidate will be CA/CPA qualified with 8+ years of hands-on experience in small to mid-sized businesses, strong Australian payroll, UK payroll, and multi-entity accounting know-how.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified and 8+ years hands-on end-to-end accounting experience for small to mid-sized businesses.
• Strong Australian payroll and compliance knowledge (STP, super, payroll tax across multiple states, BAS/IAS).
• Experience with UK payroll and compliance (PAYE, NEST, VAT) or multi-entity, multi-currency accounting.

Responsibilities

• Payroll: monthly payroll for Australian, UK and overseas staff in Xero.
• Invoicing and receivables: raising invoices and reconciling against revenue plan.
• Month-end and reporting: bank reconciliations, P&L analysis, cash flow forecasting.

Job description

pro-rata salary $56,000 + super ($140K FTE)

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial accounting and reporting activities that support pmo365's operations and growth. You'll work 2 days a week (about 16 hours), split between our Sydney office and home.

We're looking for a highly experienced accountant to run our finance function across our Australian and UK entities.

The right candidate will have long standing experience in these functions. You know the monthly cycle well, you hit deadlines without reminders, and you can pick up an established process and run it from week one.

Key responsibilities

Payroll

Monthly payroll for Australian, UK and overseas staff in Xero

Processing new starters, terminations and salary changes

Superannuation, IAS lodgement and payment, UK PAYE and NEST pension payments

Calculating monthly sales commissions and quarterly bonuses for approval

Invoicing and receivables

Raising monthly and ad hoc client invoices in Xero and reconciling them against the revenue plan

Uploading invoices to client supplier portals (e.g. SAP Ariba, Microsoft)

Chasing debtors, sending renewal notices and preparing client quotes

Month-end and reporting

Bank and balance sheet reconciliations across two entities

Manual journals, supplier bills and payment runs

P&L preparation and analysis, revenue actuals tracking and cash flow forecasting

Expense reporting and credit card reconciliations

Compliance

Quarterly BAS preparation, lodgement and payment

Payroll tax returns for NSW, VIC and QLD

UK VAT payments (returns are lodged by our UK accountants)

Working with our external tax accountant

Preparing the annual budget

About you

CA or CPA qualified is a must, with at least 8 years of hands-on experience running end-to-end accounting for small to mid-sized businesses

Strong Australian payroll and compliance knowledge (STP, super, payroll tax across multiple states, BAS/IAS)

Experience with UK payroll and compliance (PAYE, NEST, VAT) or multi-entity, multi-currency accounting

A track record of meeting fixed monthly deadlines, with accurate and well-documented work

The confidence to work independently and raise issues early

Experience in software, SaaS or professional services is a plus

Familiarity with Airwallex, CommBiz, and HubSpot is a bonus
