Job summary

pmo365 is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead finance for Australian and UK entities. The role combines Sydney-office and home-based work for about 16 hours weekly, with end-to-end oversight of payroll, invoicing, and month-end reporting.

You will ensure compliance across jurisdictions, manage BAS/IAS, and coordinate with external tax advisors. Strong attention to deadlines and independent work style are essential.

Qualifications

  • CA or CPA qualified with 8+ years’ hands-on accounting across SMBs.
  • Experience with Australian payroll and compliance (STP, BAS/IAS).
  • UK payroll/compliance experience or multi-entity, multi-currency accounting is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee payroll for Australia, UK, and overseas staff in Xero.
  • Process new starters, terminations, and salary changes.
  • Perform month-end close, P&L analysis, cash flow forecasting.
  • Lodge BAS/IAS, payroll tax for NSW, VIC, QLD; support UK VAT.

Company Description pmo365™ (EPM Partners) is a Sydney-based enterprise software company. We build project and portfolio management solutions on Microsoft 365 for organisations in Australia, the UK and beyond.

Role Description The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial accounting and reporting activities that support pmo365’s operations and growth.

We're looking for a highly experienced accountant to run our finance function across our Australian and UK entities. You'll work 2 days a week (about 16 hours), split between our Sydney office and home.

We want someone who has done this many times before. You know the monthly cycle well, you hit deadlines without being reminded, and you can pick up an established process and run it from week one.

What you’ll own

Payroll

  • Monthly payroll for Australian, UK and overseas staff in Xero
  • Processing new starters, terminations and salary changes
  • Superannuation, IAS lodgement and payment, UK PAYE and NEST pension payments
  • Calculating monthly sales commissions and quarterly bonuses for approval

Invoicing and receivables

  • Raising monthly and ad hoc client invoices in Xero and reconciling them against the revenue plan
  • Uploading invoices to client supplier portals (e.g. SAP Ariba, Microsoft)
  • Chasing debtors, sending renewal notices and preparing client quotes

Month-end and reporting

  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations across two entities
  • Manual journals, supplier bills and payment runs
  • P&L preparation and analysis, revenue actuals tracking and cash flow forecasting
  • Expense reporting and credit card reconciliations

Compliance

  • Quarterly BAS preparation, lodgement and payment
  • Payroll tax returns for NSW, VIC and QLD
  • UK VAT payments (returns are lodged by our UK accountants)
  • Working with our external tax accountant

Annual

  • Preparing the annual budget

What you’ll bring

  • CA or CPA qualified, with at least 8 years of hands-on experience running end-to-end accounting for small to mid-sized businesses
  • Strong Australian payroll and compliance knowledge (STP, super, payroll tax across multiple states, BAS/IAS)
  • Experience with UK payroll and compliance (PAYE, NEST, VAT) or multi-entity, multi-currency accounting. This is highly regarded.
  • A track record of meeting fixed monthly deadlines, with accurate and well-documented work
  • The confidence to work independently and raise issues earlyExperience in software, SaaS or professional services is a plus
  • Familiarity with Airwallex, CommBiz, and HubSpot is a bonus
  • A flexible 2-day week with hybrid working from our Sydney office
