Job summary

APM in Perth is seeking a Senior Accountant to partner with business leaders, deliver accurate financial reporting, and drive improvements across ANZ operations.

You will analyse performance, support payroll tax and GST, mentor junior staff, and help shape strategic decisions with commercial insights. This role requires strong accounting credentials and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent experience).
• 6+ years' accounting experience, corporate and/or public practice.
• Strong financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting capabilities.
• Advanced Excel and ERP systems experience (SAP highly regarded).
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive improvements.
• Experience with processes, system implementations or transformations.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive mindset.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review month-end journals, reconciliations, and management reports.
• Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to improve performance.
• Partner with business leaders as a key finance contact across portfolio.
• Investigate issues, identify risks and opportunities, and propose solutions.
• Support finance transformation, system improvements, and acquisitions.
• Assist with audits and ensure accounting standards compliance.
• Collaborate with Group Tax on payroll tax, GST, FBT, and income tax reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement and strengthen finance controls.
• Mentor and support junior finance team members.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare and review month-end journals, reconciliations, and management reports
• Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support business performance
• Partner with business leaders and act as a key finance contact across your portfolio
• Investigate financial issues, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend solutions
• Support system improvements, finance transformation initiatives, and business acquisitions
• Assist with audit requirements and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Work closely with the Group Tax team on payroll tax, GST, FBT, and income tax reporting
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, strengthen controls, and enhance finance processes
• Mentor and support junior team members within the finance team

About You

• CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent experience)
• 6+ years' experience in accounting, ideally combining corporate and public practice experience
• Strong financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting capabilities
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (SAP highly regarded)
• Proven ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes
• Experience contributing to process improvements, system implementations, or transformation projects
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a changing environment
