Job summary

MGK Accounting in Adelaide invites an experienced Accountant to join our friendly, inclusive team. You will handle tax returns, year-end statements, BAS, and SMSF accounts while supporting client payroll and software queries.

The role offers flexible hours for full-time or part-time applicants and reports to the Director. We seek at least 5 years in an accounting firm, strong tax expertise, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting firm.
• Proven expertise in professional tax practice.
• Comfortable liaising directly with the ATO.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Xero, MYOB and BGL software.
• Bachelor's degree qualification in accounting or related field.
• CPA membership is highly desirable for this position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge tax returns for all entity types.
• Prepare and review year-end financial statements for all entity types.
• Prepare and lodge BAS.
• Complete detailed work papers.
• Assist clients with bookkeeping queries including payroll.
• Complete accounts for SMSFs.
• Assist clients with software queries.
• Liaise with the ATO on behalf of clients.
• Conduct client appointments.
• Manage own workflow to meet KPIs, including budget and billable hours.

We are an accounting firm located in the southern suburbs. Our amazing, friendly, and inclusive team has helped businesses with their accounting and financial needs for over 25 years. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a qualified, experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role would suit either a full-time or part-time applicant; hours and days are negotiable.

Reporting directly to the Director, this role lets you apply your expertise across a broad range of accounting disciplines. You will work closely with our team of accountants and administrative professionals.

The role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Preparation of all entity types of tax returns, adhering to relevant guidelines and regulations

Preparation and review of all entity types' end-of-year financial statements

Preparation and lodgment of BAS

Completion of detailed and accurate work papers

Assisting clients with bookkeeping queries, including payroll

Completion of accounts for SMSF's

Assisting clients with software queries

Liaising with the ATO on behalf of clients

Client appointments

Managing own workflow to meet KPI's, including budget and billable hours

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Accountant who meets the following criteria:

A minimum of 5 years of experience working within an accounting firm

Proven expertise in professional tax practice

Comfortable liaising directly with the ATO

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to build relationships and effectively communicate complex concepts

Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, and BGL software

Bachelor's degree qualification in accounting or a related field required

CPA membership is highly desirable for this position
