Job summary

Polaris Education in Burnley is seeking a SEN Class Teacher to deliver high quality lessons for students aged 5 to 18 with complex needs.

You will work within a supportive team, adapt the national curriculum to SEMH needs, manage behaviour, and contribute to the well-being and progress of each pupil.

The role is full-time, term-time, with DBS and ongoing professional development, starting September 2026, with pension, life assurance and staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS and have a degree level education.
• Experience in EYFS and SEMH settings preferred.
• Experience with behaviour management and DBS checks.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils.
• Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
• Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
• Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes

Role responsibilities

Requirements

• Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
• Have a strong basic education to degree level
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in EYFS
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
• Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
