Job description

Advanced Security Group is looking for a motivated Security Technician to join our growing team based in Tamworth.

This is a full-time position working across a wide variety of electronic security systems, including CCTV, alarms, access control, intercoms and associated networking.

We’re ideally looking for someone with experience in the security industry, however we are also very interested in hearing from electricians, data cablers, communications technicians or people from similar technical trades who are looking for a change of direction.

If you’re technically minded, enjoy fault finding and working with technology, and have experience with cabling, electrical or electronic systems, we encourage you to apply. A security licence is an advantage, but is not essential for the right applicant, and we can assist with the transition into the security industry.

The Role

Based from our Tamworth branch, your work will include:

  • Installation, servicing and maintenance of CCTV systems
  • Alarm system installation and fault finding
  • Access control systems
  • Networking and IP-based security equipment
  • System upgrades and commissioning
  • Diagnosing faults and providing solutions for customers
  • Working across commercial, government, education, retail and residential sites
  • Liaising with customers and other trades onsite
  • Completing service documentation and job reporting
  • Some travel throughout the region as required
  • Participation in an on-call roster for after-hours technical support and callouts

Our technicians work across a diverse range of projects, so this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety rather than doing the same type of work every day.

About You

Ideally, you will have experience as a Security Technician, however we would also like to hear from applicants with backgrounds such as:

  • Electrical
  • Telecommunications
  • Fire
  • Communications
  • IT/networking
  • Other similar electronic or technical trades

You’ll be someone who:

  • Has strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Is comfortable working with technology
  • Takes pride in their workmanship
  • Can communicate professionally with customers
  • Is reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Holds a current Australian driver's licence
  • Is willing to undertake some regional travel when required
  • Is comfortable participating in a shared on-call roster

A current NSW Security Licence and cabling registration would be highly regarded but are not essential for applicants transitioning from another relevant trade or industry.

What We Offer
  • Permanent full-time position
  • Salary negotiable based on experience
  • Paid overtime and after-hours callouts
  • Participation in a shared on-call roster
  • Company vehicle
  • Tablet
  • Laptop
  • Uniforms and required equipment
  • Ongoing product and technical training
  • Exposure to a broad range of modern security technologies
  • Variety of installation, service and project work
  • Support for suitable applicants transitioning from another technical trade into the security industry
  • Opportunity to develop your skills and build a long-term career with an established regional security company
About Advanced Security Group

From our Tamworth operation, we provide CCTV, alarm systems, access control, intercoms, 24/7 alarm monitoring and related electronic security services to a diverse range of commercial, government, education, retail and residential customers.

We work with a wide range of leading security technologies and pride ourselves on providing our technicians with varied work, quality equipment and opportunities to continue developing their skills.

Interested?

If you’re an experienced Security Technician looking for your next opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.

And if you’re currently an electrician, data cabler, communications technician or working in another similar technical field and have thought about moving into electronic security, don’t let the lack of a security licence or direct security experience stop you from applying.

For the right person, we’re happy to provide the support and industry-specific training required.
