Job summary

Michael Page Australia is seeking a Security Operations Lead for a 12-month contract based in Geelong with hybrid working arrangements. The role focuses on establishing the initial security operations capability to support the organisation's new Azure environment and services.

You will oversee daily security operations, partner with platform, infrastructure and service delivery teams, implement security protocols, monitor incidents, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive risk-based decisions in

Qualifications

• Experience leading security operations, cyber defence, incident response or SOC.
• Experience maturing security operations with governance and processes.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies (Sentinel, Defender, Purview).
• Experience in cloud transformation and complex enterprise environments.

Our client is an organisation within the public sector located in Geelong, they are setting up the initial security operations capability to support the organisation's new Azure environment and associated services.

Job Description

• Oversee and manage daily security operations to protect organisational systems and data.
• Partner with platform, infrastructure, service delivery and transition teams to ensure cyber security
  requirements are incorporated into operational readiness activities.
• Develop and implement security protocols and procedures.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and breaches.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with the technology team to assess and mitigate risks.
• Perform regular security audits and assessments.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging security threats and technologies.
• Provide guidance and support to team members on security best practices.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Security Operations Lead should have:

• Demonstrated experience leading security operations, cyber defence, incident response, cyber resilience or Security Operations Centre (SOC) functions.
• Proven experience establishing, implementing or maturing security operations capabilities, including the development of operational processes, governance and accountabilities.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft security technologies, including Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview and Azure security services.
• Experience supporting cloud transformation programs, platform transitions or major technology change initiatives within complex enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and influence outcomes across multiple stakeholder groups, including cloud engineers and architects internal teams, managed service providers and delivery partners.
• Demonstrated ability to make sound, risk-based decisions in environments characterised by ambiguity, competing priorities and evolving requirements.
