Job summary

Village Roadshow Limited seeks a Senior Security Officer for night shifts at Sea World, Gold Coast. You will lead the night team, coordinate security duties, and mentor Security Officers to ensure guest safety and smooth operations.

Role requires relevant security licenses, Blue Card, CPR/First Aid, and driver’s license, with a focus on incident response, reports, and training support. Night/weekend availability is essential; salary is hourly with night penalties.

Qualifications

• Security license including unarmed, crowd control, and monitoring
• Blue Card required for Working with Children
• CPR and First Aid certifications are essential
• Current unrestricted driver’s license required
• Responsible Service of Alcohol certification essential
• Leadership experience in security teams advantageous
• Ability to work night shifts and weekends
• Excellent guest service, communication and problem-solving
• Experience using two-way radios and standard office software
• Willingness to obtain Advanced Resuscitation Techniques certificate when required

Responsibilities

• Coordinate security activity within the park and lead the night shift
• Mentor Security Officers and support Coordinator
• Respond to incidents and emergencies; act as ERT liaison
• Maintain gate house operations and access control
• Prepare incident reports and safety documentation
• Ensure safety of guests, staff, animals and property
• Maintain procedures, training material, and evaluation processes
• Support roster changes in coordination with management
• Develop learning strategies aligned with VRTP specifications

Afterhours Security Senior

$33.84 per hour plus night penalties from 12am | Part Time

Sea World, Main Beach, Gold Coast

The Opportunity

Behind every great day at Sea World is a security team keeping things running smoothly. As Senior Security Officer, you'll work alongside the Security Coordinator to run the Night Shifts and mentor our Security Officers.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating all security activity within the park and coordinating the security team duties as required.
• Working in close collaboration and integration of activity with the Security Coordinator, and assisting the Coordinator as required.
• Being familiar with emergency procedures in case of crisis such as fire alarm, bomb threats, ambulance, burglary, break and enter, trespassers, or adverse weather, and acting as the communication point for the ERT response.
• Establishing and maintaining positive and efficient working relationships among security team members.
• Managing security team members performance in conjunction with the Security Coordinator.
• Providing specialist knowledge on training-related issues and topics for the security department.
• Identifying suitable learning strategies meeting VRTP specifications.
• Writing operational procedures and assessment material.
• Contributing significantly to the implementation of training evaluation processes.
• Assisting with short-term roster changes in liaison with WFP.
• Responding to incidents in park and providing assistance to Park Managers as required, including ensuring safety of team members and guests and conflict resolution solutions.
• Maintaining patrol of grounds for the safety of the animals and property.
• Maintaining gate house operations, such as visitor/contractor access control, registering of vehicles, issues of keys to appropriate persons, bag/boot checks, and ensuring that written reports are completed each shift.
• Following all safety procedures, policies and signage to ensure a safe environment for guests and employees.
• Complying with security operational requirements.
• Coordinating the response for afterhours emergencies and communicating with relevant afterhours emergency contacts.
• Being familiar with the animal life support systems and escalating any concerns immediately.

What We’re Looking For

• Relevant security license includes, but not limited to: Security Officer – Unarmed, Crowd Controller, Cash in Transit and Monitoring
• Blue Card is essential* (Please be advised that the cost of a Blue Card is currently $108.30)
• CPR (HLTAID009), First Aid (HLTAID011) are essential
• Current unrestricted driver’s license required
• Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate essential
• Relevant leadership experience
• Ability to work nights, including weekends
• Guest service experience with effective communication skills and problem-solving ability
• Professional and friendly disposition with an ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines
• Ability to learn and use equipment such as a computer and two-way radio
• Knowledge of computer programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel
• Incident report writing knowledge
• Applicants must be willing to obtain Provide Advanced Resuscitation Techniques certificate – this will be booked and paid for by VTRTP
