Job summary

Sharon AI, an Australian neocloud, is seeking a Security Engineer to implement and operate security controls across the AI Factory platform. You will protect systems, networks and data while collaborating with the Security Architect, Engineering, Infrastructure and GRC teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in security engineering, security operations or infrastructure security.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Cybersecurity or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong networking and zero-trust security understanding.
• Experience with cloud-native security and IaC security practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop security designs and proposals with the Security Architect and implement to standards.
• Maintain security controls across environments: firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM, and network tooling.
• Lead vulnerability management activities: scanning, triage, remediation tracking.
• Collaborate with SOC on detection coverage, tuning and reducing false positives.
• Lead incident response and post-incident reviews as technical escalation point.
• Operationalise security tooling and ensure integration with CI/CD pipelines.
• Embed security into the software development lifecycle and threat modelling.
• Oversee platform build-out security, new environments and capacity expansion.
• Lead penetration testing and red team programmes; coordinate with vendors.
• Manage IAM controls: privileged access, SSO, MFA, zero trust initiatives.
• Contribute to ISO 27001, SOC 2 compliance evidence.

Sharon AI is an Australian neocloud, delivering trusted AI infrastructure organisations need to build, train and run AI at scale. We support customers across the full AI lifecycle, from training through to inference and agentic AI, drawing on a strong ecosystem of technology and co-location partners to deliver capability where it's needed. As the first neocloud to join NVIDIA's AI Compute Program, we're growing quickly, scaling our AI Factory platform to meet rising demand for advanced compute.

The Role

As Sharon AI continues to grow, we're looking for a talented Security Engineer to join our Security team and play a hands-on role in implementing, maintaining and operating our security controls and tooling across the AI Factory platform, reporting to our CISO.

In this role, the Security Engineer will protect Sharon AI's systems, networks and data, leading vulnerability management, detection and incident response. You'll work closely with the Security Architect, Engineering, Infrastructure and GRC teams, turning our security architecture and agreed standards into working controls as the platform grows, with exposure to cutting-edge AI infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop security designs and solution proposals in consultation with the Security Architect, implementing to agreed standards
• Implement and maintain security controls across our environments, including firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM and network security tooling
• Lead vulnerability management activities including regular scanning, triage, prioritisation and remediation tracking
• Work with our SOC on detection coverage and tuning, refining detection logic and reducing false positives
• Lead security incident response and post-incident review, acting as the technical escalation point for the SOC
• Operationalise security tooling selected under the architecture strategy, ensuring it is well integrated and monitored
• Embed security into the software development lifecycle, including secure code review, threat modelling and CI/CD pipeline security
• Ensure security controls are implemented and validated during platform build out, including new environments and capacity expansion
• Lead the penetration testing and red team programme, including scope, cadence and vendor coordination
• Implement and operate identity and access management controls, including privileged access management, SSO, MFA and zero trust initiatives
• Provide technical input and evidence into compliance programs (ISO 27001, SOC 2)

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years' experience in a security engineering, security operations or infrastructure security role, ideally within a technology, cloud or SaaS environment
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and network security, including firewalls, VPNs, DNS, TLS and zero trust architectures
• Hands-on experience securing on-premises and data centre environments, including cloud-native security services and infrastructure-as-code security practices
• Experience with SIEM platforms, EDR/XDR tooling, vulnerability scanners and security orchestration tools
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and experience embedding security into CI/CD pipelines, container security (Docker/Kubernetes) and tools such as Terraform
• Scripting or automation capability in Python, Bash or similar
• Strong communication skills, able to articulate technical security risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Practical experience in security architecture, network security engineering, penetration testing, or red team exercises

Nice to have:

• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, AWS Security Specialty, GIAC (GCIA, GCIH, GPEN), OSCP or equivalent
• Experience in AI Factory infrastructure, GPU computing, data centre or high-performance computing environments
• Experience in penetration testing and/or red teaming
• Holding an active baseline security clearance, or able to obtain one
