Job summary

Irfan College in Sydney seeks a passionate Mathematics teacher to join our team for a 12-month role with potential extension. You will bring strong content knowledge and engaging teaching methods to help students see Mathematics as a way of thinking and solving problems, guided by an Islamic worldview.

About Us:

Irfan College is a co-educational independent Islamic school located in the Southwest Sydney suburb of Cecil Park. The College was established in 2013 and is a single-stream school servicing Kindergarten to Year 12 students.

Irfan College aspires to bring 'a breath of fresh air' to the sector through numerous authentic projects such as the Islamic Integration project which aims to integrate the Islamic Worldview into the Australian Curriculum.

We’re looking for a Mathematics teacher who can make numbers come alive and help students see Mathematics not simply as a subject, but as a way of thinking, questioning and solving problems.

You’ll be someone who:

Has strong Mathematics knowledge and excellent classroom practice

Makes challenging concepts accessible and engaging

Encourages students to think critically, persevere and have a go

Supports students to achieve their personal best

Values education within an Islamic worldview

Is committed to developing students both academically and personally

This role is for 12 months with the possibility of extension for the right person.

Criteria:

Knowledge of and commitment to the Islamic ethos and mission of the school.

Evidence of qualifications.

Able to work as a member of a committed team of professional teachers, dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning in partnership with the parent community.

A willingness to contribute positively as part of a professional learning community.

Accredited with at least a Conditional Accreditation by the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA).

An Australian Citizen/have a current Australian Work Visa.
