Vans Café in Cottesloe is seeking an experienced Cook to join our busy kitchen team. The successful applicant will prepare and cook a range of meals to a high standard in a lively café environment, with emphasis on quality and speed during service.

Responsibilities include menu preparation, food handling, safety, hygiene and supporting other kitchen staff as needed. Previous café or restaurant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or 3 years full-time experience in a busy café kitchen.
• Current Food Handlers Certificate.
• Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a team.

Responsabilités

• Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness.
• Prepare and cook food in accordance with the café's menu and recipes.
• Prepare meals efficiently during busy service periods.
• Safely use knives, kitchen equipment and cooking appliances.
• Prepare, handle and store food safely and correctly.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Season and adjust food during cooking to achieve the required taste and quality.
• Prepare meals to meet customers' dietary requirements.
• Assist with menu planning and estimate food and ingredient ordering requirements.
• Monitor food quality and presentation.
• Assist with training and supervising other kitchen staff and apprentices where required.
