Job summary

Griffith University, Gold Coast campus, invites applications for a Scientific Officer within the Technical Partners Health team to support practical teaching across the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Paramedicine and the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences. The role involves hands‑on laboratory setup and close collaboration with academic staff.

You will manage equipment, develop SOPs, contribute to safety and continuous improvement, and help deliver high‑quality, engaging learning

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant health or science-based degree or have an equivalent combination of training, knowledge, and experience in a similar technical support environment.
• Have demonstrated experience supporting clinical, preclinical, simulation, or laboratory-based teaching activities.
• Possess strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and adapt to changing demands.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with academic staff and technical teams.
• Show a commitment to continuous improvement, with a proactive, detail‑oriented approach and a focus on delivering high‑quality, safe and inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and maintain laboratory spaces across different facilities, ensuring practical teaching sessions run smoothly and safely while supporting different technical teams
• Collaborate with technical and academic staff and course convenors to develop and deliver best‑practice practical teaching activities and procedures
• Manage equipment and consumables, including stocktakes, procurement, maintenance and calibration to industry standards
• Develop and maintain documentation such as lab resource statements, risk assessments and standard operating procedures
• Provide technical instruction and support to staff, while contributing to special events, workshops and continuous improvement initiatives
