Job summary

Catholic Education Cairns is seeking a School Learning Officer for Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School on Waiben Island. This term-time permanent role is 30 hours per week, with a pay rate of $34.17–$35.62 gross per hour plus 12.75% super, and requires a Working with Children Blue Card.

You will support classroom learning, assist teachers with program delivery, and promote student engagement in a remote Torres Strait setting that values Indigenous culture and parish links.

Qualifications

• Hold a Working with Children Blue Card
• Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education

Responsibilities

• Assist developmentally appropriate student learning, either individually or in groups under the direct supervision of an academic staff member where limited discretion and judgement are involved.
• Under direct supervision of a higher level officer or members of the academic staff prepare and clear away materials for display/use in classrooms or libraries.
• Perform within well-established routines tasks associated with the mass production of printed material including collating, stapling, binding, folding, cutting etc.
• Under direct and/or routine supervision, perform tasks of limited complexity, associated with classroom learning experiences, such as assisting teachers in preparing, implementing and supervising learning programs.
• Maintain appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
• Support students in relation to their physical needs.
