Job summary

State Government of Victoria seeks a facilities maintenance officer to work with the Principal and Facilities Manager in managing maintenance of school buildings, grounds, plant and equipment at Nepean School in Melbourne.

You will undertake daily maintenance, coordinate purchases, ensure safe work practices under OH&S guidelines, and collaborate with a transdisciplinary team to keep learning environments safe and welcoming for students and staff.

Qualifications

• SC1 Demonstrated ability to proactively undertake a range of maintenance duties including some trade experience relevant to the role and co-ordinate contractors when necessary.
• SC2 Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of people in a working environment.
• SC3 Proven ability to use highly developed organisational skills to investigate, prioritise, take appropriate action and address maintenance and grounds issues as they rise.
• SC4 Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as a member of a team, to follow instructions and take on responsibility and to work independently without direct supervision, be self-motivated and show initiative.
• SC5 Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and practices.
• SC6 A strong ethic and a sense of pride in efficiently completing work to a high standard and in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance, modifications and repairs to school equipment.
• Complete maintenance of the school grounds.
• Complete daily maintenance of the swimming pool.
• Coordinate purchase of items for the above.
• Ensure compliance with safe work practices within the principles of Occupational Health and Safety.
• Organise work priorities with the Principal and Facilities Manager.
• Undertake other related duties as requested by the Principal and Facilities Manager.
• Work flexibly and reliably within tight guidelines and with minimal direction in a team environment.
• Operate in a professional, courteous, efficient manner at all times respecting confidentiality.
