Job summary

Whizdom in Sydney is seeking a Functional Advisor – SAP to provide functional and systems expertise across an implemented SAP environment within a major NSW government transport and infrastructure context.

You will review the solution, identify functional gaps and help resolve issues spanning MDM, ALM, and MRP, while aligning with governance and business process improvements. This role suits an adaptable SAP generalist with strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent substantial professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience in project-based change management, planning and project management within a large, complex, technology-enabled environment.
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience developing practical and innovative solutions within SAP ERP and Enterprise Asset Management environments.
• Extensive knowledge and practical application of project change and risk management methodologies.
• Proven ability to organise and facilitate effective SAP workshops.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience supporting significant business transition and process-improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Review the implemented SAP solution and identify functional, operational and process gaps.
• Support the resolution of implementation-related issues across MDM, ALM, inventory and MRP.
• Develop and continuously improve SAP management frameworks, standards, processes, tools and supporting documentation.
• Monitor system adoption and usage, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Establish effective governance and collaboration between business users and SAP technical service providers.
• Conduct stakeholder analysis, readiness assessments and gap analysis.
• Support transition planning, business process documentation, contingency planning and recovery planning.
• Develop stakeholder communications, training plans and coaching workshops.
• Facilitate technology-enabled workshops involving complex and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Help strengthen the division’s operational preparedness and ongoing SAP support arrangements.

About the Opportunity

A major NSW government organisation operating within the transport and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Functional Advisor to support a road maintenance and resilience division.

This role will provide functional and systems expertise across an implemented SAP environment. You will review the solution, identify functional gaps and help resolve implementation-related issues spanning Master Data Management (MDM), Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM), and Inventory and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).

The initial requirement is for an adaptable SAP generalist who can assess emerging operational challenges and determine where specialist input or system enhancements may be required.

Key Responsibilities
