ContractRoll Pty Ltd in Canberra seeks a SAP Technical Engineering Expert to own the technical health of a large SAP estate. You will manage installations, upgrades, transports, patching, performance tuning, HA/DR and the S/4HANA transition.

The role is hybrid with work-from-home considered and requires an active NV1 clearance. Initial 12-month contract starting in December across Australian capitals, serving a major federal program.

SAP Technical Engineering Expert | Analyst

Open to candidates across QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW, SA, a major federal government ERP program is moving its SAP landscape to S/4HANA. You will own the technical health of a large, complex SAP estate — installations, upgrades, patching, transports, refreshes, performance tuning, HA and DR — while contributing to the technical planning and execution of the S/4HANA transition itself. This is deep platform work, not application development.

Key responsibilities

• Senior SAP Basis administration and engineering across the full landscape
• SAP system installations, upgrades, patching, maintenance and lifecycle management
• Transport management, client administration, system refreshes and environment management
• Monitoring, analysing and optimising system performance, availability and reliability
• Designing and implementing high availability, backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions
• Technical planning and execution for migrating SAP workloads and databases to S/4HANA and HANA
• Technical assessments, readiness reviews and proof-of-concept work for modernisation initiatives
• Technical documentation, operating procedures and support models
• Mentoring internal staff and running knowledge transfer so the capability stays in-house

About you

• Demonstrated senior experience as an SAP Basis Administrator, SAP Basis Engineer or SAP Technical Engineering Expert in large, complex environments
• Current SAP certification in System Administration (Basis), HANA, S/4HANA or an equivalent SAP technology discipline
• Hands‑on S/4HANA experience across implementation, upgrade, migration or technical conversion
• Proven database migration work into HANA, including planning, conversion, testing and cutover
• Linux and enterprise infrastructure experience underpinning SAP
• The ability to give expert technical advice and work alongside architects, engineers, project teams and vendors
• Currently hold an active NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) clearance and be able to maintain it for the duration of the contract

Nice to have

• SAP in an Australian Government or similarly regulated environment
• Cloud-hosted or hybrid SAP architectures
• Large-scale ERP transformation, platform consolidation or modernisation programs

Security clearance

You must currently hold an active NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) clearance and be able to maintain it for the duration of the contract. This role is not open to candidates who could obtain one, and NV1 requires Australian citizenship.

12 month initial contract with extension options

Hybrid. Working from home is considered, provided you live within reasonable travel of the office for onsite attendance when needed
