Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council is seeking a Saleyards Worker to support the Dalby Regional Saleyards operations. You will perform a full range of duties to ensure efficient operation and comply with Council policies, procedures, and values.

Key tasks include operating and maintaining plant and equipment (notably Bobcat), maintaining saleyards infrastructure, and keeping yards and troughs clean for a well-presented facility. A Queensland C Class Licence and White Card are essential.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland C Class Licence.
• OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card.
• Q Fever Immunisation.
• Knowledge of the cattle industry and animal welfare practices.
• Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain saleyards infrastructure and equipment, including cleaning yards.
• Utilise and maintain plant and tools (hand and power) such as a Bobcat.
• Ensure the saleyards facility is well-presented and safe at all times.

The Opportunity

The Saleyards Worker is responsible for providing a full range of duties to ensure the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the Dalby Regional Saleyards in accordance with Council's policies, procedures, Code of Conduct and values.

Key Responsibilities

This role encompasses a range of duties and responsibilities which may vary as directed by Council. The key ones include:

• Utilising and maintaining items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power) in accordance with required procedures, in particular use of a Bobcat;
• Undertaking maintenance of the saleyards infrastructure, including cleaning of yards and troughs;
• Ensuring the Saleyards facility is well-presented at all times to a satisfactory standard;

About Yourself

A person in this position will be required to have:

• Current Queensland C Class Licence;
• OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card; and
• Q Fever Immunisation.

It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have:

• Knowledge of the cattle industry and animal welfare and management practices; and
• Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements and safe working practices.
