Job summary

AAR Consulting Group is delivering a flagship Salesforce-based digital platform within a NSW government department as part of a multi-year Digital Modernisation Program. The Senior Engineer will oversee all technical aspects of development and decommissioning of legacy systems.

The role requires deep Salesforce expertise, integration design skills, and a strong emphasis on governance, security, and performance within a government context.

Qualifications

• Deep Salesforce platform expertise with Apex and Lightning Web Components.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce limits, performance, and security.
• Experience with multiple new platform or application builds.
• Familiarity with Public Sector Salesforce implementations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement application components, data models, and integration solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, BAs and engineers; refine epics and user stories; participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high quality software; contribute to design decisions and code reviews.
• Identify issues and risks; contribute to testing and QA processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and delivery teams to align requirements and constraints.
• Support deployment, go-live, data migration and system transitions.

Job description

Our client is an agency within a large NSW government department that responsible for the administration of consumer, rental and property protection laws in NSW

The Digital team is delivering a multi-year Digital Modernisation Program to transform customer services, improve business operations, and create better digital experiences.

Role Description

The Program currently comprises two separate but related projects - each project will develop and embed a new digital application (CRM, business workflow and customer portal)

The Senior Engineer will work on all technical aspects of application development and legacy system decommissioning for a new flagship digital platform (Salesforce based)

Responsibilities

• Application design: Design and implement application components, data models, and integration solutions with internal and external systems
• Agile product development: Work closely with product managers, designers, business analysts, and engineers to refine product epics and user stories. Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and technical discussions to clarify requirements, estimate effort, identify dependencies, and support testing and delivery planning
• Engineering: Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high quality software solutions in line with engineering standards and best practices. Contribute to technical design decisions, provide peer support through code reviews, and help improve development processes, tooling, and engineering practices
• Risk & quality assurance: Identify technical issues and risks within your area of responsibility and work with the wider team to address them. Contribute to code reviews, testing activities, and quality assurance processes
• Stakeholder communication: Collaborate with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical colleagues to ensure shared understanding of requirements, technical constraints, and proposed solutions
• Transition & decommissioning: Support deployment, go-live activities, data migration, and system transition activities to ensure successful implementation

Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL

Deep Salesforce platform expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Apex and Lightning Web Components
• Solid understanding of platform limits, performance, and security
• Experience with multiple new platform or application builds
• Understanding of regulatory and government style Salesforce implementations using Public Sector Solutions (PSS)

Cloud & Service Cloud Expertise

• Building customer-facing portals and service solutions
• Customisation and automation to support complex service journeys

Integration architecture on Salesforce

• Designing and implementing integrations using Salesforce APIs
• Applying standard Salesforce integration patterns
• Exposure to MuleSoft or similar integration platforms
• Salesforce designed as part of a broader digital and integration landscape

DevOps & release engineering

• Source-driven development and CI/CD for Salesforce
• Experience with Salesforce DevOps tools (e.g. Azure DevOps)

Communication, collaboration & work style

• Excellent documentation, communication and cross functional collaboration skills

DESIRABLE

• Advanced automation: Complex Salesforce Flow orchestration and automation design
