Job summary

ESS Engineering is seeking a hands-on sales and service technician to join our Mackay team. Based at the Mackay Office/Workshop, you will perform installation and servicing of conveyor systems, with travel to sites across mining, sugar and agricultural industries.

The role requires problem-solving, reading drawings and a proactive, client-facing approach. Training is on-the-job, and a company vehicle, laptop and mobile phone are provided for field work.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified technician with hands-on experience in material handling or conveyors.
• Experience reading and interpreting basic engineering drawings is preferred.
• Willingness to travel regionally and pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Install and service material handling components at mine, sugar, agriculture sites.
• Conduct site visits, audits and inspections of conveyors within the Mackay region.
• Support sales activities and present solutions to clients on-site.

Job description

ESS Engineering is currently looking for a keen and enthusiastic sales & service technician to join our Mackay team. You will be based in the Mackay Office/Workshop and required to undertake site works in the mining, sugar, agriculture, and food industries. The role will be to assist with installation and servicing of material handling components and will entail sales trips and conveyor inspections and audits within our region.

The position is a hands-on role for a mechanically minded person who can problem-solve and think on their feet.Training is on the job which details the different components of materials handling equipment and workings of a conveyor system. This role would suit a qualified tradesperson looking to specialise their skills and knowledge in the material handling sector. Travel is an integral part of this position, our clients’ sites may be within the Mackay, Townsville and Gladstone region and some more remote locations in QLD.

• Site experience within the mining & sugar industries or similar
• Knowledge in the use of hand tools, welding equipment, and power Tools
• Microsoft office knowledge and ability to use Computer
• Problem-solve who can think on their feet and use initiative
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings
• Knowledge of hazard identification and controls
• Current Australian Driver’s license
• Working at Heights & Confined space (desirable)
• Be able to and willing to pass regular Drug and Alcohol Screening.
• Be able to pass a Pre-employment Medical
• Self-motivator with a curious mind and can be initiative
• Ability to sell themselves and present themselves to Client based people.
