Job summary

Moontree & Kate Soady Art Gallery in Leura, Blue Mountains NSW, is seeking a friendly Sales Assistant to create a warm shopping experience for locals and visitors, guiding customers through our curated art collections and homewares.

This part-time role covers Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays plus flexibility for relief and peak periods; you will assist with visual merchandising, stock management, transactions, and daily administration in a calm gallery environment.

The Role

As our Sales Assistant, you will create a warm, memorable shopping experience for our local clients and visitors alike. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Delivering genuine, top-tier customer care and nurturing client relationships.
• Guiding customers through our art collections and homewares with emerging product knowledge.
• Assisting with visual merchandising, store presentation, and stock management.
• Processing sales, managing customer enquiries, and operating the POS system.
• Handling general housekeeping to keep the gallery and store looking immaculate.
• Assisting with daily operations, packing orders, and general administration.

What We Are Looking For

• Core Availability: Consistent availability to work Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, plus public holidays.
• Flexibility (Essential): Willingness and availability to step in and cover shifts for sick leave and staff holidays, as well as work additional shifts during peak retail trading periods (such as Christmas and school holidays).
• Tech Savvy: Confident computer skills with prior experience using POS registers/software.
• Customer Focus: Warm communication skills and a professional, positive attitude.
• Eye for Detail: Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail in a retail or gallery setting.
• Physical Capability:
  • Ability to be on your feet and active throughout the store and stockroom.
  • Comfortable climbing step ladders and using hanging systems to safely install or rotate artwork.
  • Ability to safely lift and move stock/parcels up to 15 kg.
