Job summary

Haymes Paint is seeking a part-time Sales Assistant for our Norwood store. You will provide knowledgeable advice to trade and retail customers, assist with tinting and colour matching, and manage stock replenishment.

The role involves taking orders in-store and by phone, building relationships, supporting displays, and local deliveries. Ideal candidates have excellent communication, genuine customer-service passion, and prior experience in retail or inventory tasks.

• Confident with technology and POS systems.

Responsibilities

We are on the lookout for our next Part-time (20 hours per week) Sales Assistant based at our Norwood store.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing knowledgeable advice and product solutions to trade and retail customers
• Handling all paint related enquiries, including tinting paint products and colour matching to customer requirements
• Inventory control/stock replenishment (manual handling up to 15kg involved)
• Taking orders in-store and by phone
• Building strong relationships with new and repeat customers
• Assisting with visual displays and store presentation
• Making local deliveries

What you will bring to the role:

• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences
• Previous experience in customer service, retail, inventory management or merchandising (desirable)
• Confidence using technology (Experience with Point of Sales systems advantageous)
• Sound numeracy skills and attention to detail, including the ability to accurately process transactions and comprehend tint percentages/ratios
• The ability to follow processes, take initiative and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, customer-focused approach.
• Trade experience is highly regarded

Requirements:

• Current valid driver’s license
• Australian Working Rights

This position works on a rotating roster across our 6-day a week trade (Monday-Saturday).
