Job summary

MacKellar Group is seeking a proactive HSE professional to support a Safety and Health Management System on a site with an 8/6 FIFO roster from Rockhampton or Townsville. You will help ensure compliance with Queensland mining legislation, client requirements and company procedures.

You will conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments, lead incident investigations, promote hazard reporting and assist with toolbox talks and workforce training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ practical HSE experience in mining, civil or earthmoving operations.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Sound knowledge of the Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing risk controls.
• Relevant risk management and safety investigation competencies.
• Strong reporting, record management and Microsoft Office skills.
• Current Australian Class C driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
• Promote hazard reporting, Take 5s, JRAs and effective risk management practices.
• Support toolbox talks, pre-starts, workforce training and safety communications.
• Monitor compliance with site safety procedures, legislative requirements and training standards.
• Identify improvement opportunities and work with operational teams to strengthen safety performance.
