Job summary

Linktal Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Safety Officer to join a major residential development in Sydney, NSW. You will work with the WHSE Manager and site team to drive safety, compliance and day-to-day WHS requirements on site.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in construction safety, strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, and experience delivering inductions, toolbox talks, and site inspections. BuildPass experience is advantageous and First Aid qualifications are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Safety Officer / WHSE role within construction, ideally on large-scale Class 2 residential projects.
• Good understanding of Australian WHS legislation, construction safety procedures and risk management.
• Experience conducting site inductions, toolbox talks and safety inspections.
• Confident identifying hazards, addressing non-compliance and following up corrective actions.
• Experience maintaining WHS registers, incident reports, induction records and safety documentation.
• Familiarity with SWMS, permits, pre-starts and subcontractor safety compliance.
• Experience using BuildPass or similar construction safety platforms would be advantageous.
• Current First Aid qualification and relevant site safety certifications would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inductions and ensure workers comply with BuildPass sign-in and sign-out requirements.
• Deliver weekly toolbox talks and maintain accurate attendance and safety records.
• Carry out daily safety walks and regular documented site inspections, ensuring identified issues are addressed.
• Review pre-starts and follow up outstanding safety actions.
• Monitor scaffold tags, plant inspection records and other required WHSE sign-offs.
• Manage safety permits, inspections, registers and compliance documentation.
• Assist with incident investigations, emergency evacuation drills and first-aid coordination.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with site safety procedures and project management plans.
• Support the WHSE Manager with audits, risk assessments and continuous safety improvements.
• Track hazards and corrective actions through to close-out, ensuring major non-conformances are resolved within required timeframes.

About You:
