Job summary

Seymour Whyte in Canberra is seeking a Safety Manager to lead health and safety across major infrastructure projects. You will partner with project managers, operations leaders and site teams to drive a proactive safety culture, coaching teams and leading investigations to deliver safe, sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.
• Extensive HSE leadership experience in civil construction or infrastructure.
• Proven track record leading safety across multi-project environments.
• Strong knowledge of WHS, ISO 45001 and safety management systems.
• Experience leading investigations, audits, risk management and assurance.

Responsibilities

• Lead health and safety performance across Canberra region infrastructure projects.
• Partner with Project Managers and site teams to provide safety leadership.
• Drive a proactive safety culture and best-practice across projects.
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze safety data to inform regional strategy and improvements.
• Mentor project safety teams and provide guidance to safety and operations staff.
• Oversee audits, inspections and assurance to ensure compliance.
• Support project mobilisation, risk management and safety system implementation.
• Build relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders as safety adviser.
