Job summary

Downer is seeking a Safety Graduate to start a rewarding career in health, safety and wellbeing within the Energy & Utilities sector. The graduate program may rotate across areas to gain exposure to safety, risk management, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will be mentored by experienced leaders, support safety documentation, participate in toolbox talks and stakeholder engagement, and contribute to a Zero Harm culture across projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Degree in Work Health and Safety or related discipline, completion by end of 2026.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
• Hold a valid driver's license and be available to commence February 2027.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and promotion of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across operational projects.
• Assist with inspections, audits, risk assessments and hazard identification activities.
• Support incident investigations and help monitor corrective actions.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of safety documentation and compliance records.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Contribute to data analysis, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Actively participate in the Graduate Program, development activities and mentoring opportunities.
• Promote and support a culture of Zero Harm across all work environments.
