CSIRO’s Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong is seeking a Technical Officer to help keep a complex research facility running safely. Reporting to the Compliance and Services Manager, you will manage the permit system, supervise tradespeople and contractors, including after-hours support, and oversee safe isolation and energisation during maintenance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements for CSIRO facilities.
• Experience supervising contractors and managing permits/access procedures.
• Ability to monitor safety of maintenance and contracted works.
• Maintain training records and compliance documentation in line with standards.
• Strong prioritisation and decision-making to meet deadlines.

Responsabilités

• Act as Permit Officer and manage permit system to uphold engineering/contractor standards; supervise tradespeople and contractors.
• Identify isolation/ energisation requirements for maintenance and minor improvements; ensure safety equipment is operational.
• Develop and deliver tailored safety training for maintenance/engineering staff; coordinate external training; maintain competencies.
• Implement and manage CSIRO’s Health, Safety and Environment systems; monitor safe work practices and risk assessments.
• Lead design/implementation of safety reporting dashboards and report on safety issues to support timely actions.
• Drive continuous improvement by keeping up-to-date with standards and promote safe behaviours.
