Job summary

Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Geelong site is seeking a Technical Officer in Safety and Compliance to help keep a high-containment facility operating safely. You will report to the Compliance and Services Manager and oversee the permit system, tradespeople, and contractors, including after-hours support.

You will develop and deliver safety training, implement CSIRO health, safety and environment systems, and maintain safety equipment while fostering

Qualifications

Experience with Health and Safety procedures in research facilities.
Ability to manage permits, access procedures, and contractor oversight.
Experience in developing and delivering safety training.
Knowledge of risk assessment and Job Safety Analysis.

Responsibilities

Act as Permit Officer, manage the permit system and oversee contractors.
Identify plant/equipment isolation requirements for maintenance and de-energisation.
Develop and deliver tailored safety training and maintain records.
Implement CSIRO Health, Safety and Environment systems in line with legislation.
Maintain safety equipment and drive continuous improvement.
Prepare safety reports and dashboards and monitor safety performance.
Adhere to CSIRO values, code of conduct and safety procedures.
