Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive health and safety support across construction projects in Toowoomba.
  • Travel between project sites to inspect, audit and observe safety.
  • Assist with risk assessments, SWMS, incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Support implementation and continual improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Monitor site safety performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver safety guidance, coaching and education to workers and subcontractors.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through clear communication with site teams.
  • Assist with injury management and return-to-work processes when required.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with site teams and stakeholders.

Hutchies is looking for a motivated and hands‑on Safety Advisor to join our Toowoomba QLD team on a full‑time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects across the region, working closely with site teams to drive a strong safety culture and make a real impact on project success.

Responsibilities

As a Safety Advisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing proactive health and safety support across construction projects throughout Toowoomba
  • Travelling between project sites to conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations
  • Assisting project teams with risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Hutchies’ Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems
  • Monitoring site safety performance and identifying opportunities to improve safety outcomes
  • Delivering safety guidance, coaching and education to employees, subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Promoting a positive safety culture through effective communication and engagement with site teams
  • Assisting with injury management and return‑to‑work processes where required
  • Maintaining accurate safety records, reports and compliance documentation
  • Building strong working relationships with site teams and stakeholders across multiple projects
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in the respective field for this role
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • A current driver’s license and the ability to travel regularly between project sites
  • Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, standards and best practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management systems
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have initiative when working independently
  • Strong relationship building with all relevant stakeholders
  • A down to earth, fun, friendly and professional approach to your work
