Panettiere Builders Pty Ltd is seeking a Safety Manager for a 31-level high-rise project in Newstead, Brisbane. You will lead the site WHS function, implement the Safety Management Plan and drive a culture that prioritises safety across trades, supervisors and management.

The role requires a Certificate IV in WHS (or higher) and 5+ years in construction safety, with hands-on HammerTech and Procore experience. A competitive salary plus long-term career growth is offered.

Safety Manager - High Rise Residential, Newstead

The Project

Our new 31-level high-rise residential tower in Newstead, around 3km from the Brisbane CBD, is one of the suburb's most significant residential developments. Scope includes [basement levels, podium, post-tensioned slabs, tower crane operations, jump-form core and façade installation], with construction running from [2026] to [2028] for stage 1.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager/Director, you'll lead the site's WHS function and build a "Safety First" culture that trades, supervisors and management all own.

You will be responsible for:

• Implementing and maintaining the site-specific WHS Management Plan in line with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and Regulations
• Managing site safety in HammerTech: inductions, SWMS review and approval, permits to work, plant registers, inspections and incident reporting
• Using Procore to record observations, track actions, and report safety performance to the project team
• Reviewing SWMS for high-risk construction work, including working at heights, tower cranes and lifting, formwork, scaffolding, hot works and confined spaces, and making sure controls follow the hierarchy of controls
• Running regular inspections of subcontractor/trade work to confirm SWMS cover the work being done and that controls are in place and effective
• Leading pre-starts, toolbox talks and site safety committee meetings
• Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Coaching site supervisors and foremen to build their WHS knowledge and leadership
• Making sure every action from inspections, audits, incidents, observations and hazard reports is captured and closed out

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Certificate IV in WHS at minimum; Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety highly regarded
• 5+ years as a safety professional in construction, including at least one high-rise project (10+ levels)
• Demonstrated, hands-on experience with HammerTech and Procore (essential)
• Proven experience implementing a Safety Management System on site
• Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and relevant Codes of Practice
• Experience on OFSC-accredited projects (desired)
• Strong inspection and report-writing skills
• Current White Card, First Aid and a valid driver's licence
• Competitive salary of $120,000 - $160,000 + super
