Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is seeking a Safety Advisor to join a well-established Australian construction and infrastructure business. The role starts on a 12-month project in Western Downs, with a DIDO roster (10/4 or 5/2), before transitioning to Brisbane-based projects for long-term stability.

ASAP start available. You will partner with project teams, conduct site inspections and risk assessments, deliver inductions and training, and ensure WHS compliance across major works in Queensland,

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Safety Advisor on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management.
• Experience across commercial, civil, infrastructure, or large-scale construction.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willing to work in a regional Queensland on a DIDO roster.

Job description

I am currently seeking a Safety Advisor to join a well-established Australian construction and infrastructure business with a strong track record delivering major projects across Queensland and regional Australia.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, initially working on a 12-month project in the Western Downs area, constructing a new workers' camp on a 10/4 or 5/2 DIDO roster.

Following completion, you will transition onto Brisbane-based projects, providing genuine long-term career stability and progression within the business.

ASAP start available.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with project teams, subcontractors and senior management to drive positive safety outcomes.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing safety training.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of WHS systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company standards and project requirements.
• Provide practical safety advice across construction activities and high-risk works.
• Build strong relationships with site teams and subcontractors.
• Proactively identify hazards and support the project team in implementing effective controls.

About You

• Proven experience as a Safety Advisor
• Previous experience across commercial, civil, infrastructure, resources or large-scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management and contractor engagement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach to safety.
• Comfortable working in a regional environment and on a DIDO roster.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to the wider project team.
• Available for an ASAP start.
