Job summary

Contemporary Catering in Victoria is seeking a Roving Chef to support our West Region Aged Care facilities. The role reports to the Operations Team and ensures smooth day-to-day kitchen operations across multiple sites.

You will prepare meals to the menu, maintain high quality and presentation, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure safe hygiene and food safety documentation while assisting with scheduling and ordering procedures.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery required or equivalent.
• Experience in Aged Care preferred.
• Proficiency with basic computer apps (Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to the set menu.
• Ensure meals are high quality with excellent presentation.
• Communicate with Site Manager and Facility staff.
• Supervise kitchen staff and provide direction.
• Maintain safe food handling and hygiene practices.
• Complete food safety documentation and stock control.
• Assist with staff schedules and shift coverage.

About the role

A unique opportunity to work across our West Region Aged Care Facilities. This role reports directly to the Operations Team and ensures the smooth running of the kitchen on a day-to-day basis.

Duties

• Preparation and cooking of meals as per the set menu
• Ensure meals are of high quality with excellent presentation
• Communicating with Site Manager and Facility staff
• Provide supervision and direction to Kitchen Staff
• Ensure safe food handling and hygiene practices are maintained
• Completion of food safety documentation
• Adhere to budgets, stock take and regular ordering procedures
• Assisting with kitchen staff schedules and filling shifts

Skills & experience

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Experience in Aged Care preferred
• Experience with Western Cooking
• Basic computer skills, including Outlook and ordering processes
