Job summary

The Grove Academy in Nowra is seeking a Room Leader to guide a team of educators and nurture a warm, learning-focused environment for children. You’ll mentor staff, plan milestone-based programs, and partner with families to support each child’s development.

You will model safety and child protection practices, oversee daily routines, document progress, and ensure a safe, welcoming classroom. The role requires proven leadership in early childhood settings and a passion for creating memorable

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care required.
• Proven experience leading a room and mentoring educators.
• Strong knowledge of the EYLF, NQS and child development.
• Foundations of Child Safety training completed or willing to complete prior to commencement.
• WWCC (Working with Children Check) required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of innovative, milestone-aligned programs.
• Mentor and support educators in professional growth.
• Build strong relationships with children, families and your team.
• Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
• Observe, document and support children’s development.

About the Role

As a Room Leader at The Grove Academy, you’ll take on a leadership role in creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for children and educators. You’ll guide and mentor your team, ensuring exceptional care and education for every child.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the delivery of innovative, fun and milestone aligned programs
• Mentoring and supporting educators in their professional growth
• Building strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and your team
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
• Observing, documenting, and supporting children’s development
• Ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all children is prioritised at all times
• Actively supervising children and maintaining awareness of risks in the environment
• Reporting any concerns or incidents in line with service policies and procedures

Skills & Experience

• A Diploma or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
• Proven experience leading a room and mentoring educators
• Strong knowledge of the EYLF, NQS, and child development
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
• A positive attitude and love for creating memorable experiences
• Strong understanding of child protection responsibilities and mandatory reporting
• Ability to identify and respond to risks to children’s safety
• Completed the Foundations of Child Safety training (or willing to complete prior to commencement).
• Successful applicants will be required to hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
