Amey Australia in Brisbane's CBD is seeking a senior civil engineering leader to guide urban development projects from design through delivery. You will balance hands-on technical input with team oversight and stakeholding across multiple projects.

You will mentor engineers, manage client relationships, sign off on designs, and coordinate internal and external resources. The role requires a strong background in civil engineering, urban development, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

You'll be trusted to take ownership, guide a capable team, and influence how projects are delivered.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing technical input with team and project oversight. You'll be guiding civil design and delivery across a range of infrastructure projects while staying close to the detail where it matters.

Day to day, you'll be:

• Leading and mentoring engineers and designers, supporting their growth and maintaining strong technical standards
• Overseeing project delivery from scoping through to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
• Providing senior technical input and signing off on designs
• Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
• Coordinating internal and external resources to keep projects moving
• Identifying risks early and managing variations before they become issues

You’ll also play a part in building client relationships and contributing to new work opportunities as the Brisbane team continues to grow.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who brings both credibility and practical leadership.

Must have:

• Significant experience in civil engineering, including time in a senior or leadership role
• Strong background in urban development projects
• Confidence managing projects, clients and multidisciplinary teams
• Bachelor's degree in engineering and professional accreditations
• Solid understanding of relevant standards, design practices and local regulatory requirements

Nice to have:

• Experience in the local Queensland market
• RPEQ
• Familiarity with tools such as 12D, AutoCAD, or civil design software
• Exposure to civil infrastructure and transport projects an advantage but not critical

Just as important as your technical background is your ability to lead by example, communicate clearly, and stay organised when managing multiple priorities.
